Tonights combined activity highlighted the Ability Awareness award of the GSLC. Dodge ball took on a new face, as several dozen adults and youth tried to cope playing, each with a newly given disability. The difficulty was not only to miss being hit, but also to accurately throw and hit members of the other team with these various disabilities. My personal favorites from the nights activities were Bishop Beeler playing as a blind man, the "Siamese" twins, and all those sporting the fashonable prescrition glasses! (There were several who wouldn't even try them on for fear of looking "like a dork." Now I know what people really think of me and my glasses... Too funny!)
After all was said and done, we were treated to Root Beer floats, while Robert shared with us how his life has changed since being put into a wheel chair. What an eye opener. Robert, I don't envy the position that you're in, but I certainly do admire you! I've gained new respect for so many that continue to travail their lives with so much holding them back. As Robert said you just can "never give up."
